Every chorus tells a tale of hope and every breakdown tells a tale of darkness – that’s the painfully sincere premise of latest metal output Savage Mountain from Germany. The band consists of four members – Karl Erik Niggemann on vocals, Adrian Poneta on guitar, Joshua Luft on drums and Josia Albert on bass. In a restless artistic endeavor, the fourpiece spent the last two years working on their first EP “What Lies Beneath My Sorrow”. With it, singer Karl Erik aims to channel music into a form of diary writing – leaving no stone unturned in his attempt to understand his own story and dealing with the hardships of loneliness, despair and the never-ending search for identity.
Another year has reserved its place behind worn eyes
I swear my gold was innocent
We all meet ends to survive
I've tried to escape,
I've tried to show my repent
But there's no love in the world
That could heal me
How could you run,
From what saved you once?
I feel the pain from a knock in the distance
I've tried to save me
Before it tried to kill me
The stitch is cut, but I bleed no more
Burning winters held inside a frame
A memory so dark no one can tame
The ones you love can't claim to be safe
I need you close but there's no one to be beared
A curse is waiting on the darker side
A finality, so I can sleep away
Those inner boundaries pulled us from our lives
A shapeless form of misery
I'm lost within,
My inner child is dead
Pull me apart
I need your warmth, I crave your hands, just to feel again
Cause in this heart and every piece I own, there's no love
